filmmaking
Cinema fascinated me long before I knew how to call it by name.
At 13, I started experimenting with writing, content editing, and directing as part of middle school radio broadcasts, and since then, my curiosity about what goes on behind the scenes of a story has only grown - how an idea becomes a script, a production, and a complete creation.
My experience in journalism, media, and production allows me to understand the big picture, alongside the people and roles that make it up.
I believe in creation, initiative, and good people.
In every story, I look not just at what happens, but also at the person at its center.

Not Just An Argument
Familiar with the divisive and inflammatory conversation that comes up when discussing sensitive topics in society?
Well, it’s time to show that things can be different.
"Not Just An Argument" is an independent, nonprofit social documentary project aimed at changing exactly this phenomenon.
We brought together 20 teenagers from different worldviews with the goal of showing that it’s possible to talk without turning it into a fight against each other.
The project was filmed a few days before Rosh Hashanah and released on 09/27/2026.
The meeting was hosted by the actor Dor Harari.
The full film is available to watch on YouTube, and there are also Instagram and TikTok pages.
Directed and edited by - Liya Schwartz (me)
Why I got into filmmaking?
I wanted to be part of the process of bringing stories to life. To take an idea, a question, or a complex reality and shape it into something that makes people pause, think, and feel.
I believe every compelling story has a person at its heart - with their own complexities, choices, and perspective on the world.
Filmmaking gives me the opportunity to explore those stories, connect people and perspectives, and make room for voices that might otherwise go unheard.
To me, every project is a chance to discover something new and create something that didn't exist before.
